Ah shucks.

Well, if it wasn’t clear before, it should be by now that this weblog has once again staled. I wonder how you keep a weblog fresh if it doesn’t really have any visitors. I don’t know.

So, in other news, Flip 3.0 is coming along at a ridiculous rate. It’s actually working right now, believe it or not, and better than I expected.

I moved firsttube.com onto the same server as phatphiles.org, which is pretty neat. Now, it’s running a server I have root on, which is pretty sweet, and I can upgrade or alter PHP if the whim strikes me.

Work is coming along well. Surprisingly so, actually. There’s so much to do – so much. If they continue to let me, I’ll turn that place into something really friggin great. But, man, it has so far to go…

I promise, to the no one that reads this, I intend to write more in it. I guess I’ve been occupied with Flip and firsttube.com and phatphiles and not had time to sit down to play. But I will. I really will.

…someday.

Yep.

It’s been awhile since I’ve written, less because I don’t care as much as I’ve been busy. I haven’t had time to sit down and write anything sizeable. But that’s not for lack of content. Au contrere!

Between the new job, the recent cruise, jd, Flip 2.1, and my sister’s graduation, there’s been so much crap going on I don’t know where to begin. I guess it’s safe to say that I’ll have to recommit.

I’m going to finish the new Flip theme I’m working on. When it’s done, I’ll put it up here, and maybe that will give me the energy to catch up. I hope.

Sweet ….Flip 2.1

I had some trouble concentrating.

That’s what I’m telling myself. That’s why I took my time with Flip 2.1, the first version to use a “code name.” So, “Lobster” is now complete and released. In follow up, I want to complete some themes, all of which will be compatible with Shark, which is Flip 2.2′s code name.

I will get around to upgrading this weblog to 2.1 soon.

Oh Phishy Phishy Phish

I’m supposed to be working on phatphiles.org this week and I really haven’t done jack with my computer at all. Literally, there are all kinds of things I wanted to do, including wrap up Flip 2. Flip 2 has been needing it’s stylesheet mechanism ramped up for months, and I just can’t summon the energy to do it. I’ve decided, though, that I’ll hold off for Flip 2.1 to fix themed stylesheet implementation.

Phish is going to start their winter tour in about 2 weeks and I’m not going to any shows but I am strangely excited, if only to see the setlists roll in again. I love when they’re touring an I wake up and even before a shower, check out the set. And who doesn’t love that moment when you yell, “Holy shit! They broke out XXXX!” Man, that rules.

I need to go finish this new page for phatphiles now.

It’s Funny Cause It’s True

I’m such a loser. I don’t need a weblog. I never kept a diary, why would I use a weblog? The truth is, I like having a project like Flip. It keeps me occupied. It works, but there’s always stuff to tinker with. I get a kick out of building it and making it come to life.

I was perousing some of the other weblogs out there. Not many support flatfiles, which is kinda neat. It makes Flip unique. Of course, there is one really super advanced flatfile weblog called Easy Base System, but I can’t really find any mention of it anymore. Still, Flip doesn’t have the professional feel that some of the other, more developed weblogs do. I happen to think Flip is more attractive, but it’s not as “pro” feeling. I might rip off some of the Slash-esque feel.

So, Which I know is lame, but I do it. It’s a clean, healthy habit – and as long as I stay away from Star Trek, the X Files, and Mountain Dew: Code Red, I should be okay. Alas…

Lame! Lame, lame, lame.

I spent a good portion of this weekend working on this stupid weblog. This is how it works: I write tons of code, make it work, and then burn out and don’t think about it for a few weeks. Lather, rinse, repeat.

The cool part of this is that this is now a working implementation of Flip 2, which is pretty cool. The only thing I have left to do is fix the theming to use a theme-specific stylesheet and it’s done. Then I take a break from this shite for a while.

I’m moving to Florida. It’s official. Well, kinda. I mean, I made up my mind. It’s gonna happen at some point. And truthfully, I can’t wait. DC is bumming me out.

At least I have LASIK to look forward to. Sigh…

Flip release

I finally rolled a new version of Flip tonight, my first time doing any code in weeks. I was very productive, too – I fixed about 4 naggin bugs, and finally figured out why Flip didn’t work on all servers. I expect to RELEASE version 1.0 by the end of the week. I even have a beta tester ready to go!

Items coming up in Flip 2: theming, more customizability, scalability issues, and security. Fun.
